Save the Raptors Project was launched with a series of urgent actions to protect two of the most endangered raptor species in Bulgaria and Europe – the Imperial Eagle and the Saker Falcon.
To undertake immediate actions is undoubtedly the only way to save the birds from extinction.
If you wish to participate in some of the activities, we are implementing, simply send us a mail with your contact details and we will get in touch with you.
Here are some of the main project actions:
- Guarding of Imperial Eagle’s nests
- Mapping the distribution of Souslik colonies over the project territories
- Monitoring of dangerous electricity poles in the vicinity of known Imperial Eagle’s nests
- Mounting of artificial nests for Imperial Eagle and Saker Falcon and restoration of nesting sites
- Monitoring of artificial nests to check the occupancy of the nests
- Participation in transhumance activities – herding of sheep in a traditional way in different project territories
- Educational activities in the 10 project sites
